The Art of Creativity is a collection of 30 brain hacks that we learnt teaching creativity over the span of four years and three continents. It combines elements from three disciplines from Design Thinking, the skills to work in group; from Japan lean visualisation, and from the field of Business Modeling, hacks such as the Business Model Canvas.

I am grateful that the author shared some really good methodologies to foster design thinking in any setting with at least three people present. The book was short, concise, and reads at a good pace. I like the book for its rapid output and ease of use. However, there are some parts that didn't feel conclusive or definitive as the other chapters. I'll write about my findings later but overall a very helpful book on design thinking!

The Art of Creativity 30 brain hacks Jose Berengueres 9781511535311 Books Reviews

When you want to start being creative and you don't know how, this is a great start. It's useful for any public, from dreamers to doers, from professors to students. Very useful to use as a support for classes (innovation and design). I will be looking for the continuation of it.
A thoughtful review of the different ways to engage with creative process and how Design Thinking can help solving business challenges. Handy book, inspirational and practical for those who are stack in their innovation process. Properly illustrated with real cases this book is recommended when you want to have a helicopter view of the innovation processes currently being used by professional in this field.
The book consists of a terse and precise discourse of design thinking,
which emphasises more on the mundane, practical and hands on aspects than scholarly ones.
Though more inclined to the Japanese way of "design thinking", the book does justice
to its title and the key messages are agnostic of any specific case study.
The book is recommended is for someone who wants know the very fundamentals of design thinking,
and does not require any prior experience or background in this regard.
The examples and illustrations are humorous, and gets the message across a diverse range of audience.
This book is awesome !! It is simply a creative journey that lets you learn creative techniques based on theories and previous successful experiences .. compared to "the brown book of design thinking" I really prefer this one because 1. It is well structured (I really like the idea of having (odd and even pages) as it links each idea with an image, so it is easy to the reader to memorize the content ) 2. And also the content of the book is very straightforward (going straight to the point clearly and firmly) so the reader learns "a lot" of things within an "hour" of reading !!

I have a little suggestion the sub-title of the book is 30 brain hacks .. I prefer to see at the end of the book a diagram that illustrates all of these hacks, I found it a good idea to end up this creative journey .. Love this book and I think it is my fav "design thinking" book so far !! and I would love to see an Arabic version of it !!!
Years ago when slick consultants flew about thirty of us to another city, locked us in a hotel, dumped eighteen months of research on us and formed cross-functional teams to save our airline - I wish we had been able to read "The Art Of Creativity" on the plane. Being allowed, no, ENCOURAGED to think creatively comes as a bit of a shock to employees who have been in mundane, process-driven jobs. This book is excellent background material for those charged with forming a team in which they are expected to suddenly become outgoing and creative. In my case, it would have saved that awkward first hour or two wondering what they hell was going on.
I was kinda...'huh?' All the way through and the author is the type who would say 'You don't understand it because you just don't get it like *I* do'. You know the type it's not because the formatting is terrible; the concepts confusing; and the pictures make no sense....it's all *your* fault.

One of his brilliant hacks "Having the right thickness marker and the right table size can make or break a workshop because..." Seriously? The right thickness marker is important to the creative process? Sigh.
This book is different than any other books you would read by its innovative approach as it merges graphics with texts well making the tips so easy to understand!

The way the book is structured makes you comprehend this book immediately - getting the ideas as whole and making your brain more engaged at the same time. I would say this is definitely the most practical book I had on design thinking, as it speaks in my brain language!

I must admit that with most books about design thinking I would take time to understand and process the concepts and my mind would drift - this one kept me fully alert and focused from the first to the last page!

The book, in a simple and clear way presents organizing teamwork, visualisation and thinking about business backed up with examples of big brands and provides with sufficient explaination.

A real open minder for those who are not that flexible with their ideas to think more creatively using visual comprehension. Allowing you to take another perspective it actually teaches you how to be straight-to-the-point.

Wish I had this book when I was doing a Creative Project Design Management course in London!
